Note: Nếu chủ ngữ của câu chủ động là : somebody, someone, people, I, You, He, She, We, 
They ...thì khi chuyển sang câu bị động, chúng ta không cần dùng “by +object”
II. Compound words: Từ ghép
a. Hình thức :
 Compound word = Noun+ V-ing
Ex : bird-watching : bird (n) + watching (V-ing) 
b. Cách dùng : 
+Làm tính từ đứng trước danh từ khác
Ex: Vietnam is a rice- exporting country
+ Làm danh từ
Ex: My father likes bird-watching
III. Reported speech : Reporting statements (Tường thuật câu nói thông thường)
a. Reported speech là câu nói dùng để tường thuật lại điều mà một người nào đó đã nói 
 trước đó. Ex: 
Direct: “I must go home now,” John said.
Reported : John said that he must go home then.
Or: John said that he had to go home then.
2. “should” và “ ought to” có thể giữ nguyên hoặc dùng động từ “advise someone (not) to do 
 something”
• Should
Direct : “You should study harder,” Miss Johnson said to Nam
Reported : Miss Johnson said Nam should study harder.
Or : Miss Johnson advised Nam to study harder.
• Ought to
Direct : “You oughtn’t to stay up late,” my mother said to me
Reported: My mother said that I oughtn’t to stay up late.
Or : My mother advised me not to stay up late.
D. EXERCISE: 
I. Which is correct?
1. The doorbell rang/ was ringing while Tom watched/ was watching television.
2. How fast did you drive/ were you driving when the accident happened/ was happening?
3. Anna and Susan made/ were making dinner when Martin arrived/ was arriving home.
