II. GRAMMAR 
 THE SIMPLE PAST TENSE ( Thì quá khứ đơn) 
 * Usage: diễn tả hành động đã xảy ra và hoàn tất tại một thời điểm cụ thể trong quá khứ. 
 * Adverb: Yesterday (hôm qua), ago (cách đây), last week (tuần trước), last month, last year. 
1. TOBE: WAS / WERE 
 (+) S + Was / Were + O 
 (-) S + Was / Were + NOT + O 
 (?) Was / Were + S + O? 
 Yes, S + was / were; / No, S + was / were + not 
 WH + Was / Were + S +... ? 
 * Viết tắt: was not: wasn’t were not: weren't 
 * Note: -1, He, She, It và danh từ số ít: WAS 
 - We, You, They, danh từ số nhiều: WERE 
 Ex: - I was at home yesterday. 
 - He wasn’t present at the meeting last night. 
 - Was Nam at home yesterday? Yes, he was.

2. VERB: VED / V2 
 a. REGULAR VERB (ĐỘNG TỪ CÓ QUY TẮC): V-ED 
 Động từ có qui tắc: thành lập bằng cách thêm ED vào sau động từ nguyên mẫu. 
 * Cách thêm ED: Với các động từ tận cùng: 
 - bằng E thêm D
