Connectives are conjunctions or adverbs that 
connect parts of a sentence.

Clause of result + because + clause of reason
 I was late because I stayed up late last night.
 Because + clause of reason, clause of result.

Introducing clause. However, opposite clause.

 Introducing clause + but + opposite clause.
 The man is rich. However, he is not happy.
