Every year, thousands of visitors come to Viet Nam to see its beautiful beaches and amazing forests. But 
when you visit a new country, it’s easy to make mistakes and accidentally upset people. So, what do 
visitors need to know if they are planning to go to Viet Nam?
Vietnamese people are very polite! Shouting and arguing in public are very bad manners. If there is 
something that upsets you, try to keep calm. Change the subject and do not raise your voice. Vietnamese 
people think that showing anger makes you look very bad indeed.
Vietnamese people love getting and giving gifts. When you give a Vietnamese person a gift, they do not 
often open it in front of you; they wait until later. This doesn’t mean that they are not grateful, though! 
Good gifts are fruits, chocolate, and flowers. There are also lots of gestures that mean something different
